Windmill Hill

Windmill Hill marks the approximate western end of the core battlefield. A small pullout beside the hill on NM 50 is the site of the only historical marker presently on the battlefield.

The hill itself was not a key location during the battle, though it is roughly in line with the first Federal position of March 28, 1862. The name "Windmill Hill" postdates the battle, as there was no windmill on the hill in 1862.
