Sharpshooter's Ridge

Located immediately north of Pigeon's Ranch, Sharpshooter's Ridge is a rocky hill that thrusts forward from the north wall of the canyon. Veterans of the battle wrote that fighting on the ridge was so fierce that at times the barrels of opposing forces' rifles crossed. Trunks of ponderosa pines on the ridge still bear the scars of the battle.

Sharpshooter's Ridge is presently off limits to visitors, but it may easily be seen from NM 50.
