Apache Canyon

On March 26, 1862, the first component of the Battle of Glorieta Pass was fought at Apache Canyon, near the west end of the pass.  As night approached, the Confederates retreated to Johnson's Ranch at Cañoncito, where they had placed their supply train. The Federals fell back to Kozlowski's Ranch.

Apache Canyon is not accessible to visitors.  A small private memorial has been set up at a pullout on the south side of I-25.
